Throughout Advent, the children of our church have been hearing the story of “Big Head Bob and the Northern Light.” The final installment of this story will be given at the Christmas Eve Service. For those unable to make it, here you can find the full text of the story:
A recent survey reports that among mainline denominations UCC clergy have the highest rate of support for marriage equality. Sixty-seven percent of UCC clergy support marriage equality while twenty-four percent support civil unions. The report also states that “a huge majority (84%) of UCC clergy supports the ordination of gay and lesbian people with no special requirements.” Contrary to public perceptions of Christian clergy, the report additionally states that “on a range of policy issues, Mainline Protestant clergy are generally more supportive of LGBT rights than the general population.” For more, visit: http://www.publicreligion.org/research/?id=208
